Creating a list of my yearly beauty favorites has become a blogging traditional that I look forward to every year. During the past 12 months I've made some exciting purchases and tried out a lot of new products, some that sucked and some that were really good. Without further ado, let's get cracking on that "nice" list!
Eyebrows : Brow Archery by Soap & Glory This is the BEST product I've used this year. It is perfection. I own other decent eyebrow pencils but I notice that I don't get the same results. The nib of the pencil is very small which allows for precise application and I love that the other end is a spooly which I can use to brush my brows. I have gone through two already, currently on my third, and I've asked a friend coming from abroad to get me more...
Mascara : Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir I'm not one to usually splurge on mascara because you can get really good ones for an affordable price (hello Maybelline) but there was just something about the Marc Jacobs velvet noir mascara rave that made me want to jump aboard the bandwagon. I'm really glad I picked this badboy up at Sephora while in Los Angeles. It can be layered for days without clumping and it just looks beautiful!
Eyeshadows : Colourpop eyeshadows + Tartelet "In Bloom" Palette This year I tried out two new brands which I've wanting to try for a while, Colourpop and Tarte Cosmetics. They're at two different price points but they're both equally awesome. I got a couple of colourpop single shadows while in the states and I instantly loved them, they're super soft and easy to blend. My favorite shade is: Supermodel. I had no plan to buy a new palette this year but things changed when Feel22.com came into my life. I don't think I've been this impressed with a palette since the Naked 1 and that's a big statement to make because I still use that palette almost SIX years later! The colors are super warm and neutral, which is totally up my alley, and I've been using it everyday since I got it. Ps. You can use discount code Nouchalinefeel22 for 10% off on Feel22.com
Eyeliners : Maybelline Master Ink Liquid Liner (Matte) + Sephora Long-Lasting 12 HR Liner (Fancy Blue) These two liquid eyeliners have really changed my beauty routine. I used to not be a liquid eyeliner person until these two came into my life. They're both very pigmented, long lasting and easy to apply!
Foundation : Gosh #Foundation Drops I picked this up from Boots in Dubai because Luanne from Weesha's World mentioned that I would like it since I'm a big fan of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. Although I don't think it's that similar to the Urban Decay one, it's still a really good foundation. I've been meaning to do a full review on it, but I've been lazy. Quick review: build-able medium coverage, long lasting, silky finish and looks like skin.
Powder : Gosh Prime n Set Everyone was super into "baking" this year and I wanted to give it a try, I originally was supposed to get the Laura Mercier translucent powder everyone raves about but it was out of stock so I randomly picked this Gosh powder instead. It's a powder primer which you can use before and after applying your makeup, which is something I hadn't heard too much about but was intrigued to try. Although I don't use it as a primer, I do use it to set my makeup and it makes everything so super smooth that I will not leave the house without it on most days!
Blush : Samoa Risette Blush (6) Of all the makeup products that excite me in the world, blush is not one of them. I've been using the same two blushes (Seventeen's "10 Ceramic" and MAC's "Gingerly") for years and I've been very happy with them. Samoa ended up sending me this blush, which is part of their Lotus collection, as one of the 40 gifts for their 40th anniversary, and I can honestly say no blush has made me feel this way. According to Maya, it's a dupe for the Balm's Frat Boy, which is great because The Balm is hard to find in Lebanon. This blush gives the cheeks such a natural and gorgeous flush!
Highlighter : Sleek Cosmetics Solstice Highlighting Palette The makeup product that should define 2016 is the highlighter. My favorite is the Sleek Solstice Highlighting palette which comes with three powders and a cream highlighter. I can only summarize the experience as OUUUU SOOO PRETTYYY!
Lipliners : Sane Cosmetics + Provoc + Essence Long Lasting Lipliner Lipliners were such an afterthought for me in the past, but this year I've somehow accumulated a decent collection of them. My favorites include "Everybody Flirts" by Sane Cosmetic (really nice MLBB), "Sealed with a Kiss" by Provoc (a gorgeous red that's a dupe for MAC's Ruby Woo) and Essence's "Plum Cake" (a greyish purple that is similar to Colourpop's Cheap Thrill).
Liquid Lipstick : Colourpop Liquid Lipstick (Cheap Thrill) The second I saw Chloe Morello use this lipstick in one of her tutorials I knew that I had to have it so I instantly placed an order. This is the first Colourpop lipstick that I tried when my order arrived and I fell in love instantly. Although the color might not be to everyone's taste, the formula is very pigmented, long lasting and comfortable to wear. There are some colourpop liquid lipsticks that get flakey after a while (like Lychee) but this isn't one of them.
Cleanser : Mario Badescu Cleanser Some article on the internet mentioned that this cleanser is part of Kylie Jenner's skincare routine, I'm not one that cares too much about the Kardashian/Jenner clan but the name "Mario Badescu" stayed on my mind. While waiting in line to pay at Ulta, I spotted a travel sized version of the cleanser mentioned in the article and I ended up spontaneously purchasing it. I'm really glad I picked it up because it's a great cleanser which I've enjoyed very much (the scent is heavenly). Also, I've been using the small bottle consistently for four months and I haven't run out yet!
Moisturizer : Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer Yes, it is AS good as the beauty gurus on YouTube claim it to be! Very moisturizing and the scent is seriously energy-boosting, especially in the morning.
The wet brush : if you have hair on your hair (whether it's curly, straight, wavy, short, long, blonde, blue, green, black or whatever) that needs to be brushed, you need the wet brush. I NEVER thought that a hairbrush could change my life so much but it really has made the process of brushing my frizzy curly hair a very painless procedure.
It's a 10 Leave in Condition : Yes, I did mention this product last year but that was the Keratin version with the yellow cap. This purple one without Keratin does an even better job with my hair! (And it's like $5 cheaper muahaha)
