As much as I love H&M, I really really hated the makeup range that they introduced a couple of years ago. Every item I had tried was a complete disappointment, the eyeshadows were chalky and not pigmented, the nail polishes were gloopy and hard to apply; the only item I ever got along with was the eyeshadow stick (which I will talk about in a future beauty post). I think people over at H&M also realized that their beauty products could use a little improvement, so they went back to the drawing board and created a new H&M Beauty Department. Every beauty blogger I follow in Europe has been going on and on about how good the new collection is, and I was really excited to get my hands on it to try it out myself. I'm glad to say that the Beauty Department has finally made its way to Lebanon, and the collection is awesome. The department is divided into three categories: hair styling, make-up, and body care. The variety of items available is really awesome, especially in the hair styling department (there's a texturizing paste, smoothing balm, alt water cream, hair primer, curl cream, finishing spray, dry shampoo and dry conditioner among others). The price is a little high for H&M, most of the items are 19,000 LL to 29,000 LL- which isn't too bad, but for H&M it's not THAT affordable, it put me off from buying a lot of items. I did manage to get two things, one was the Dry Conditioner - which I was very curious about since I had heard of dry shampoo but dry conditioner sounded unique, I also got a cream eyeshadow because Lily Pebbles mentioned it's really nice. I have to totally agree, it's VERY creamy and slightly moussey, such a lovely soft texture that goes on very smoothly. The shade I got is called Champers, and I would describe it as MAC's Soft Ochre with hints of champagne glitter, a great color to use as a base or on its own for a soft makeup look. I have worn it twice already (as you cans see in the picture I was way too excited to take blog photos before digging in), and I LOVE it. I might even like it more than the Maybelline Color Tattoo... which is a BIG statement to make!
I will definitely be heading back to pick up more items, I think next time I'm going to get an eyeliner (I swatched one and it was very smooth, pigmented, and wouldn't come up my hand) and the curling cream!
PS. I found the collection at Beirut City Centre.
Will you be heading to H&M's new beauty department?
