REVIEW: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet

This product has been on my list of things to try since it was launched last year, I really love long lasting liquid matte lip products and I just knew that it had to join my collection. On a recent shopping trip to ABC Ashrafieh I decided to finally pick one up. Since I own a lot of bold lip colors with a similar formula, I decided to go for a more practical everyday color that's just a couple of shades darker than a "my lips but better" lippy, called "Nude-ist". The second I got in my car, I put it on and fell in love. It is one of the lightest feeling lip products I have ever use, you literally cannot feel it on your lips yet it's very pigmented and makes your lips look awesome. It glides on your lips very smoothly and dries to a matte finish in seconds without drying out the lips at all. The liquid lipstick  is said to last 24 hours on the website, and although it is in fact long lasted, it definitely did not last that long with me. I got around six hours of perfect wear and then it started to fade away from the middle (because I was drinking tea maybe?), the rest faded away after around ten hours... which is honestly still very impressive, especially considering that it does not feel drying after all that time. The only negative thing that I don't like about this product is the smell. I didn't think I would have a problem with it since I'm not a very picky person when it comes to those things, but it really does have an odd smell. You don't notice it very much throughout the day, but when you first apply it you get a whiff. It also has an odd taste when you first apply it, I felt like there was rusty dry blood in my mouth. At first I thought it was because of something I had eaten, but I noticed that the taste was there every time I applied the lipstick. The good thing about it though is that the taste fades away. I think this is going to be my go-to everyday lipstick!

Application: Smooth, flawless, not sticky. The size of the applicator is great to outline the lips perfectly and get into all the corners.
Finish: Matte
Pigmentation: Very opaque.
Lasting Power: 24 hours (on packaging)- around 6 hours (reality with eating and drinking) around 10 hours (not much eating or drinking).
Color Selection: 8 shades great reds, pinks and nudes.
Shade Reviewed: 07 Nude-ist

Rating: 4.5/5

    1. They had all the shades in ABC and most of the shades at Max when I checked last week. You needddd to try out this lipstick though, I suggest Hot Pepper if you're looking for a red. There's also a darker more vampy red shade, but I can't remember the name.

  4. Heyy Aline :* :)
Got some questions for you :) Did it transfer for you at all? Or does it stay on the lips no matter how much u rub it? How do you remove it? With a tissue paper or with a makeup remover?

    1. Hey Rima!
I had very very minimal transfer, but it stayed on my lips for the most part after eating and drinking all day. To remove it I use my makeup remover (definitely not just a tisue paper), I'm posting more details about makeup removal on Thursday morning :D
Let me know if you try it out!
