This foundation was on my list of things to try for the longest time, I had hear so much about its amazing coverage and lasting power. I almost bought it last summer but for some reason walked away from the Estee Lauder counter empty handing. During my recent trip to Dubai, I decided to treat myself while waiting around in duty free. The Double Wear foundation comes in two forms: glass bottle or tube (which is the one with heavier coverage). I opted for the Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body because I don't own any foundations that are very very high coverage, plus clumsy/messy people like me should not be allowed to go near glass bottles. I've been wearing it almost everyday since I've been back from Dubai and I must say that it DEFINITELY lives up to the hype.
Application and Consistency:
It's a very creamy foundation and a bit on the heavy side so it takes a bit more effort to blend than most foundations, but with that said it's still very blendable. I suggest a buffing brush or a beauty blender, fingers work too, but avoid the traditional flat foundation brush. It has SPF 15 which is decent protection from the sun, but this also means it's not camera and flash friendly...
Very pigmented and buildable coverage. It covered all my horrible scars and blemishes with one layer of foundation. It can also be used on any part of the body to cover up anything there. To get a light everyday coverage you can use a pea sized amount and blend it all around.
Silky/matte finish. This is my favorite kind of finish because you can always add the glowy factor when you're done with a highlighter.
They really are not lying when they say this is a 12 hour long lasting foundation. I put this on at around 7:30 am before work and the foundation still looks amazing when I'm done with work around 6. Most of the time I don't touch up if I'm going out somewhere after work which is fantastic for lazy people like me.
There are only 8 shades listed on the Estee Lauder website, which isn't too impressive. I'm in the shade 1N3 Creamy Vanilla which is the lightest shade, and I'm not even pale!
To powder or not to powder:
I didn't feel the need to powder because it sets very nicely and already has a matte-ish finish. If you are very very oily and want to add powder just make sure to use a light hand in order to avoid possible cake-iness.
If you have oily skin and need some serious coverage then this is the foundation for you! It will cover up everything that needs to be covered up and leave your skin looking flawless. If you have dry skin, don't forget to moisturize before applying the foundation because it might cling to those dry patches and make your skin look flaky. Also don't recommend wearing this foundation when you know you might be taking a lot of pictures with flash because it will make you look super pale. All in all, worth the money!
