How do you feel about the Maxi Skirt?

Maxi skirts are one of those things that become "in" every couple of years. I remember when I was young, maxi jeans skirts were in (YIKES!). I owned two of them, and for a while I was quiet obsessed with them. Then I moved on to jeans (pants) like a normal person. The Maxi skirt is back, not necessarily -hopefully- in jeans. This is one of those things that I feel look good on "other people", in magazine photoshoots etc.
Even though I'm not really into it, I want to give it a try... the problem is, I don't know how to style a maxi skirt.

I found a vintage black wool skirt that previously belonged to my aunt and I tried it on.. it's very comfortable, and doesn't look half bad. But when it comes to the top, I'm really clueless as to how to style it. As with my other confusions in life, I went online to figure out some ways.

1. Tuck shirt into maxi skirt
2. Platforms are the go-to shoe for the maxi skirt.

3. A belt is a good idea.
4. A blazer or a vest looks great.
5. Be creative and have fun with colors.
6. Accessorize with a scarf, and an cross body handbag.
7. Try different styles of maxi skirts, and find out which one looks best on you :)

  1. I'm more of a midi-skirt length type of girl - I like to show a little ankle, but I'd definitely wear a maxi skirt if I felt like I styled it correctly. Which, I agree, can be tricky.

I can't wait to see how you style your vintage one.

  2. Oh I simply adore the maxi skirt! You're done a great selection of photos!

  3. I'm loving the maxi skirt !

  4. Love the gray-hued outfit. Perfection!

  5. I was also confused about how to make maxi's look good. I tried it with gladiator sandals and that didn't quite work so I'm definitely gonna try it with platforms and a tucked shirt for the spring!

  6. Oooh nice tips! I love the outfit the girl is wearing with the green maxi and purple-pink top. I think imma try my maxi with a fitted top and a pair of platforms so I don't look like a gnome :P
